Considering a career as an interpreter?

We are offering a free training session for women (including cisgender and transgender women, and gender-diverse people who identify as women) interested in becoming professional interpreters.

This initiative is part of our ongoing commitment to creating inclusive and empowering spaces within the language services sector.

We’re adding new interpreters to our roster who speak fluent English and any of:

  • Amharic
  • Bengali
  • Cantonese
  • Farsi
  • French
  • German
  • Gujarati
  • Hindi
  • Korean
  • Laotian
  • Low German
  • Mandarin
  • Nepali
  • Nuer
  • Oromo
  • Portuguese
  • Punjabi
  • Rohingya
  • Romanian
  • Serbo-Croatian
  • Somail
  • Swahili
  • Tigrinya
  • Urdu

What the Training Includes

This is a ten-week self-study course.

  • Community and Social Services (4 weeks)

  • Health care (3weeks)

  • Legal (3 weeks)

There are no scheduled lectures or classtime.  We will provide free online/telephone support and tutoring upon request. 

Students typically spend 14 hours per week on the curriculum - 140 hours in total.

Upon completion, you’ll be ready to take the Interpreter Language and Skills Assessment Tool administered by our partners at Across Languages.

There is a $250 fee for the test. Qualified interpreters are eligible to be added to our roster of contract interpreters.
