Racisim Has No Home Here.

We are seeing and hearing more displays of white nationalism and white rage.  This so-called 'freedom convoy' has incited racism, anti-Semitism, hate symbols, intimidation, and bullying across our country.  This is not acceptable.

In our own community, one of Waterloo Region’s local anti-racism advocates, Selam Debs, has been threatened by supporters of this ‘freedom convoy.’  We call on the Waterloo Regional Police Service to take these threats seriously and protect *all* citizens of Waterloo Region.

Selam, we stand with you.

We fully support you.  And we thank you for being a fierce advocate for BIPOC in our community.  As you have said, “equity feels like oppression to those who benefit from the oppression and marginalization of others.”

The Kitchener-Waterloo Multicultural Centre will always advocate for equity and celebrate the cultural diversity of our community.

Everyone belongs here.
