Local Refugee Health Centre Launches Fundraising Drive

$100K to be raised for capital campaign for Kitchener location.

(Kitchener, ON - June 13) Sanctuary Refugee Health Centre –a unique primary health care provider in Kitchener – will be launching a fundraising campaign on Friday June 15 at 2 PM with a goal of raising $100,000 for expansion of the clinic located adjacent to the Kitchener Farmer’s Market on King Street.

Sanctuary is unique in that it offers a range of services for refugees with language assistance under a single roof – doctors, nurses, mental health services and trauma counselling, social supports and specialist assessments. All of these services can be easily accessed in a central location that accommodates service providers from partner organizations working together as a team to help refugees become fully well so that, like others, they too have the chance to be active and contributing members within Kitchener-Waterloo.

“Combining all these services under one roof improves the quality of patient care. We can serve these people more efficiently, more effectively and with more dignity.” said clinic founder, Dr. Mike Stephenson.

Sanctuary is a model for other Health Centres. It has a specific patient focus. It is multi-disciplinary. The staff are committed and passionate about serving their patients in all matters that affect their health and well-being. Money raised will be used to expand the existing location and repurpose the space to allow patients to receive care as needed in a culturally sensitive environment.

Donations can be made directly to the clinic online through the Canadian Medical Foundation atwww.sanctuaryrefugee.ca/donate
